Ocean Rig own and operate Leiv Eiriksson and Eirik Raude, two of the world's largest and most modern drilling rigs, built for ultra deepwater and extreme weather conditions. We also have four brand new 6th generation drillships all of which are operational. To continue with the growth of Ocean Rig, three further deepwater drillships have been ordered from Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea, these are expected in 2013.
Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Support Technician is primarily responsible for second line support for all Ocean Rig users globally, although first line support will also be part of daily duties if needed.
Responsibilities/Duties
•Provide first and second line technical support to telephone and email requests from users for all PC hardware, software and associated peripherals.
•Log support calls and document their outcome to facilitate the resolution of common queries.
•Redirect or escalate support requests to the appropriate member of the IT Dept. or external vendor.
•Pro-actively provide information to users on the progress of outstanding support calls.
•Deploy PCs and associated peripherals including new installations and the redeployment of existing equipment.
•Create, maintain and delete users in internal systems according to internal SOX procedures.


 
Status:  Staff 
Required Skills/Experience:  •Minimum 2 years of experience supporting end users in complex environments.
•Knowledge of IT systems used in the company.
•Organized, methodical, proactive and solution oriented.
•Availability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
•Motivating style and a strong team player.
•Proficiency in English, both written and oral
